Saturday morning my mother and I took the sub downtown to check out the weekly, highly-praised Hester Street Fair. The event holds several small booths filled with antiques, thrifts and organic sweets, almost all homemade and all completely desirable. My mother walked away with the daintiest necklace, a sliver of a chain holding a small gold ball with hearts stamped on its sides, while I purchased a tiny pinky ring and triangle-stud earrings. A batch of beer and pretzel cupcakes almost made their way home with us too, stalled by a soon-to-be-had iced coffee from Dean and Deluca. Next time I’m not sure we’ll be able to resist… they still might be the best cupcakes I’ve ever tried.
